Day 34: Symmetry

Today we fell asleep in the sun. What started out as wandering into the grassy grounds that surround our apartment complex we lied down and rested our eyes. Even though my eyes were closed I could still see the warm red veiny splotches of the light trying to penetrate the skin of my eyelids. Despite this, I drifted away. The sensation of the prickly grass on my skin disappeared as I slipped into an afternoon dream. When we woke up, maybe a half an hour later, I’m not really sure, I turned to my boyfriend. My eyes widened as I saw how red his face was. Fortunately I rarely burn in the sun. We giggled, surprised that we had taken a nap in the middle of the lawn. I thought, “It must be Spring!”

I finished up the “Origins of Symmetry” album tonight with the last three songs on the album, “Dark Shines”, “Megalomania” and “Futurism”. I also listened to “New Born” again, it being one of my favorite Muse songs of all time. I’m a little sad to leave this album. I’ve also been looking at some of the lyrics to the songs. I’m not a big lyric person unless I’m learning a song for myself, otherwise I try to deduce the lyrics from listening. I’m more impressed with musicianship and composition but it was nice to look over some I wasn’t too sure about. I was especially surprised by “Futurism” which I don’t listen to very often.

“Futurism” by Muse

Ignorance pulls
Apostasy and apathy still rules
Yeah you know it’s cool
Just suck and see
A future turns us into silent gods
And I won’t miss you at all
Grounded
Boxed in
Like the evil in your veins
Grounded
Boxed in
I am stuck with you
Fate can’t decide
Alignment of the planets in your hands
Come on crush our plans
Just suck and see
A future that won’t let you disagree
And I won’t miss you at all
Grounded
Boxed in
Like the evil in your veins
Grounded
Boxed in
I am stuck with you
Feel it, hear it
Right apathy you are
See it, be it
You’ll see
